TUF Finale: Demetrious Johnson vs. Tim Elliott results and highlights

Here is how The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale flyweight title fight between Demetrious Johnson vs. Tim Elliott played out
On Saturday, December 3, the UFC touched back down in Las Vegas to bring The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale. In the main vent, fans were treated to a flyweight title fight between Demetrious Johnson and Tim Elliott.
Johnson, the UFC’s inaugrual 125-pound champion, had previously pulled out of his scheduled title defense against Wilson Reis at UFC 201 with an undisclosed injury. Prior to this setback, ‘Mighty Mouse’ was last seen scoring off an impressive first round TKO over former Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo at UFC 197 in April. This extended his win streak to 10 straight, which includes eight successful title defenses.
Elliott, the former Titan FC champ, earned his title shot after emerging victorious from the TUF 24 flyweight tournament. During the competition, Elliott defeated Charlie Alaniz, Matt Schnell, Eric Shelton and Hiromasa Ogikubo.
Here is how the fight unfolded, round-by-round, including FanSided’s scoring of the fight.
Round 1: No touch of the gloves from these two men. Johnson immediately took to the outside, as Elliott stalked him from the inside. In his usual bizarre fashion, Elliott danced around the middle before Johnson shot in and secured the takedown. Working from the bottom, Elliott slapped his opponent’s head with a series of unorthodox slaps. While Johnson immediately looked for the armbar, Elliott reversed secured top control. After slapping on a tight guillotine, Elliott transitioned to a d’arce choke. While the hold looked secure, Johnson not only survived, but squirmed out and popped back to his feet. After a quick flurry, Johnson once again secured the takedown. However, Elliott would climb back to his feet. With his hands on his knees the visibly tired Elliott motioned for the champion to bring it. Clinching up, Johnson looked to land some knees to the body but Elliott responded with a barrage of punches to the Johnson’s midsection before momentarily stunning the champion with a left hook. Elliott closed out the round working from top control. FanSided scores it 10-9 Elliott

Round 2: Picking up right where he left off, Elliott kept his hands at his side as he danced around the middle. Johnson lunged in and cracked Elliott with a straight right before bounding back to the outside. After coming in with another combo, Elliott once again found himself taken down against the fence. Escaping another guillotine, Johnson reversed to Elliott’s back before transitioning to side control. Working relentlessly to make his way back to his feet, Elliott planted a handful of elbows to the skull of Johnson. With 90-seconds left in the round, Johnson started working for the kimura. Elliott escaped, secured the trip and closed out the round on top. FanSided scores it 10-9 Johnson
Round 3: Throwing a spinning back kick round of the gate, a smiling Elliott continued to stalk Johnson around the cage. Johnson evaded almost all of Elliott’s strikes before once again dragging Elliott to the canvas and securing back control. After escaping a rear naked choke, Elliott snatched up Johnon’s leg and drove him back down before sweeping him and landing a series of powerful punches and elbows to Johnson. Evading more damage, Johnson pulled Elliott back down. Working from half guard, Johnson continued to work over Elliott’s face with short punches and a suffocating top game. FanSided scores it 10-9 Johnson
Round 4: With three rounds under their belt, the crowd began to erupt with ‘Elliott’ chants. With a smile on his face, Elliott took a very bizarre karate stance before lunging in with a flurry before threatening with a hopping front kick. Unamused, Johnson secured the takedown and immediately took back control. After escaping another choke attempt, Elliott attempted to scramble back to his feet but Johnson just pulled him down and secured yet another rear naked choke. While the choke looked tight, Elliott escaped but found himself stuck on his back as Johnson transitioned to side control and securing the mounted crucifix. Squirming free, Elliott slapped Johnson in the face but could not escape Johnson’s dominance. With 30-seconds left Johnson attempted another kimura before transitioning to an armbar. With the crowd on their feet, Elliott escaped and bounced back to his feet to close out the fourth round. FanSided scores it 10-9 Johnson
