Saturday marks the end of an era. For 90 years, Oklahoma and Nebraska have competed in the same conference. The Big 12 championship game marks the official end of that streak, as Nebraska will move to the Big Ten next season.
Although the Big 12 eroded a bit of the rivalry between these two traditional powerhouses, the memories of all those terrific battles waged in the Big Eight Conference still linger. Proximity and conference affiliation weren't the only factors that brought Oklahoma and Nebraska together. It was truly a rivalry because both schools maintained such a high standard for decades.
