Detroit -- A second-half surge powered Akron over Detroit Mercy 77-69 Wednesday night at Calihan Hall. The Zips shot 56 percent from the field in the second half to overcome a one-point halftime deficit and hand Detroit its first home loss of the season.
Nikola Cvetinovic scored 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds for the Zips, while Chase Simon led all scorers with a season-high 24 points.
