The Nogales Apaches are the Tire Pros High School Team of the
Week
for the weekend of Nov. 2-3 after their 36-34 upset victory over previously unbeaten Sabino in the first round of the Division III state playoffs in Tucson.
Brian McCarty accumulated 174 yards of offense and the Apaches (9-2) took advantage of both a blocked punt and an onside kickoff recovery to put up 29 first-half points on the Sabercats. Nogales advances to play Sunrise Mountain in this week's quarterfinals.
Other
teams receiving consideration were Westview, Desert Vista and Brophy in Division I; Millennium in Division II; and Saguaro and Sunrise Mountain in Division III.
