One: The Blue Jackets came out in the first period with a tenacious forecheck and a chip on their shoulder. Jared Boll had not one, but two dustups in the period. Spark of energy for an injury-depleted team? Survey says... Yes.
Two: There were some nasty undercurrents coursing through this game. Both teams had some questionably bad hits on the other, with players from both getting game misconducts. This could very well be the start of potential rivalry.
Three: And with what has become a recurring theme, another Columbus player was injured. This time it was Artem Anisimov, on the receiving end of a nasty hit from the Senators Gryba, who did not return to the game with an upper-body injury. No word yet on how long he'll be out.
