Three takeaways from the Blue Jackets 5-2 loss to Montreal

One: They were chasing the pace that the Habs were setting, and at the same time chasing the score. Losing Dubinsky on the lone Blue Jackets goal for the remainder of the game and possibly longer wasn't good. Montreal played a heavy first twenty minutes that left the Blue Jackets stunned at times.

Two: The first part of the middle stanza saw a track meet develop between both teams, with numerous 3-on-2's that neither was able to capitalize on. The Blue Jackets outshot the Habs 12-6 and had a better pace, but fewer chances. Both goalies were sharp in middle frame.

Three: They brought the "heavy" in the final stanza, but it was a case of too little, too late... once again. They were buzzing and creating chances, but to no avail. Habs goalie Carey Price stood tall and kept his team in front of the Blue Jackets with nary a worry. This game was basically a recurring theme of the way they've been playing for most of the year.
