Three Takeaways from Blue Jackets 3-2 OT victory over the Capitals

One: Undisciplined penalties in the first put them behind the eight-ball. Consequently, that is a bit of an explanation for their lack of shots on goal. Nick Foligno, to really no one's surprise, snipes one past Holtby to even the score before 20 minutes are over.

Two: The passing was not what it has been in recent games. Take the extra fraction of a second to find your mark before you pass the puck. It was Bobrovsky doing his normal "Bob" things. Need I say more?

Three: How big is the waiver claim of defenseman Kevin Connauton looking now? With each game he is showing more offensive prowess that is a very welcome addition to the Blue Jackets arsenal. On top of that, they chased the game all night long. What was seen was the Blue Jackets of last year that never gave up.

Overtime: You get two points for that kind of play.
