Diving on the hardwood floor during a basketball game always carries a bit of physical risk. But usually it's just worry over floor burns.

One unfortunate 14-year-old girl is recovering after actually being impaled by a piece of the gymnasium's wood floor during a high school tournament in Southern Wisconsin.

The unnamed teen is expected to be OK and reportedly suffered no internal organ damage.

According to surveillance video, the Wisconsin Heights High School player was running downcourt when she fell and slid on the floor. When she tried to get up, she apparently suddenly realized that -- she couldn't, and told the referee.

Hiber told News 3 that emergency crews were called and the girl was taken to a hospital on a stretcher, and that oddly enough, there was no blood.

As for the floor itself, Hibner says it was only a 15-year-old court floor -- still somewhat young -- but a complete repair is expected by the end of this week.

More importantly, the player was not harmed further in one of the strangest, scariest injuries we've heard about in sports.
