Thegirlinthatsong wins La Canada Stakes at Santa Anita

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Thegirlinthatsong overtook pacesetter Jojo Warrior a quarter-mile from the finish and went on to win the $200,000 La Canada Stakes for 4-year-old fillies by 4 1/4 lengths Saturday at Santa Anita.

Ridden by Rafael Bejarano, Thegirlinthatsong ran 1 1/16 miles in 1:43.84 and paid $15, $4.20 and $2.60.

Lexie Lou returned $2.80 and $2.20 as the even-money favorite, while Jojo Warrior was another head back in third and paid $2.60 to show as the 8-5 second choice.

The victory, worth $120,000, increased Thegirlinthatsong's career earnings to $407,695, with five wins in 19 starts. The Grade 2 race was the 4-year-old filly's biggest win for Hall of Fame trainer and co-owner Jerry Hollendorfer. She had been idle since running second in the Zia Park Oaks on Nov. 26.
