Texas Tech's Amaro 'congratulates' national tight end of the week

Texas Tech tight end Jace Amaro has been a beast through the first half
of the season.

But he isn't getting any love from
the John Mackey Award, which is annually given to the nation's top tight
end.

Amaro wasn't included on the watch list
released earlier this month.

Fans have flooded the
Mackey
Award's Facebook page
, expressing their displeasure
with him being left out.

Amaro had another big game last week in the Red Raiders' road win over West Virginia, but that apparently wasn't good enough.

He took to Twitter earlier this week to "congratulate" North Carolina's Eric Ebron for being
named national tight end of the week.

Ebron had eight catches for
199 yards and a touchdown. Not a bad performance in the Tar Heel's 27-23
loss to Miami.

By comparison, Amaro had nine
catches for 136 yards and two touchdowns.

Amaro has 56
receptions for 742 yards and three touchdowns this
season.

He'll have a big opportunity to make another
statement in a nationally televised game on the road against No. 15
Oklahoma on Saturday.
