Texas linebacker Jordan Hicks will undergo surgery to repair a torn left Achilles tendon, the school announced on Sunday.

The junior will miss the remainder of the season and the timetable for his return is undetermined. The Ohio native suffered the injury in the third quarter of Texas' 31-21 win over Kansas State. He limped off the field, but was later carted off the field and ruled out for the game with a left ankle sprain.

Hicks retained a year of eligibility after receiving a medical redshirt in 2012. He missed 10 games with a hip injury. The linebacker had led Texas in tackles in 2013, with 41 stops and 2.5 tackles for loss.

Hicks has only appeared in four games this season, so he could be eligible for a second medical redshirt, if approved by the NCAA.
