Texas A&M star recruit says he's opting out of MLB draft
Texas A&M fans got some good news when they checked their Twitter accounts Wednesday morning: Kyler Murray is not going to play professional baseball. For now.
Murray, the three-time state champion quarterback from Allen, signed a football scholarship with Texas A&M in February. But he also is projected to be a first-round pick in Major League Baseball's amateur draft in June.
However, Murray announced via his Twitter account @TheKylerMurray that he won't participate in the upcoming baseball draft:
There is precedent for top high school prospects to tell Major League teams, "Don't draft me" and later sign after being picked. A prospect saying he wants to go to college is often a negotiating tactic.
But for Murray to say he's not going pro is better than nothing to anxious Texas A&M fans.
