DeAndre Hopkins, the Houston Texans first pick in the 2013 draft, passed the final stage of the NFL's mandated concussion protocol clearing the rookie wide receiver to play Week 1, FOX Sports Southwest has confirmed.
The Houston Chronicle was the first to report the news.
The Texans are traveling to San Diego to play against the Chargers in the second of two NFL games on Monday night.
Hopkins was injured during the Texans' second preseason game against the Miami Dolphins when his head struck the ground early in the game.
Hopkins is expected to play an important role in the offense this season playing opposite of Andre Johnson in the passing game for a Texans team that has high expectations after two straight AFC South titles.
