Trevone Boykin Day is coming.

Balch Springs, Texas gave Boykin a key to the city in a ceremony on Monday and named May 4 Trevone Boykin Day.

Boykin, who starred at nearby West Mesquite High, led TCU to its first Big 12 title last season and finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy voting after throwing for 3,901 yards and 33 touchdowns. He also ran for 707 yards and eight touchdowns to lead the Frogs to a 12-1 season and a victory in the Peach Bowl.

Boykin sat out the final week of TCU's spring practice after undergoing surgery on his left, non-throwing wrist. He's expected to be 100 percent by the end of May, Gary Patterson said.
