Swisher continues to progress on rehab stint
In his second rehab game, Nick Swisher went 3 for 4 with two RBI as Akron lost to Binghamton 12-6 on Wednesday.
Swisher, who played seven innings, doubled in the first to score Francisco Lindor and had another double in the fifth. He also had an RBI single in the seventh.
Terry Francona said on Wednesday that Swisher would join the Indians in Boston on Thursday morning and that they would make a decision on whether to activate him or not. Swisher was placed on the 15-day disabled list on May 27 with a hyperextended left knee. Since Swisher went on the DL, Lonnie Chisenhall and Carlos Santana have been playing first. With Chisenhall batting .393 and Santana playing well since coming off the DL, the question becomes where to place Swisher in the order. It becomes even more of a juggling act since Santana's days at catcher might be near an end after he was on the seven-day DL with a concussion.
Swisher went 3 for 6 in his two rehab games with the RubberDucks. He was 0 for 2 on Tuesday.
