SWIM: Mavericks vs. Nets

Looking at a box score is something anyone can do. Who lead my team in scoring? How'd we shoot from the field? And while that knowledge is useful, does it really earn you bonus points around the water cooler?

That's why I'm here. I'm bringing you the S.W.I.M: Statistics Worth Increased Media. Let Joe from accounting regurgitate what he heard on the way in this morning; you're better than that. Use these nuggets to gain a unique perspective about last night's Mavericks/Nets game.

For the first time this season, Devin Harris recorded more rebounds than assists in a game in which he played at least 20 minutes.

Prior to this game, the Mavericks had won ten of the previous 11 games in which Monta Ellis attempted at least eight free throws.

Ellis missed 13 shots (24 attempts) from the field tonight: Brandon Wright has missed 11 shots (43 attempts) over the last nine games.

Samuel Dalembert recorded his third straight double figure rebound game, matching his longest streak since April 5-10 2011.

Dalembert's last five games with multiple blocked shots have all come at home. His seven swats tonight match the total number of blocks in his next two highest totals this season.

Vince Carter had ten rebounds tonight: he hadn't had more than ten AR (assists plus rebounds) in over a month.

Shawn Marion matched a season best by scoring at least ten points in a fifth straight game.

Andray Blatche was perfect from behind the arc in this game, but is that really a surprise? He has made a three pointer and missed a three pointer in the same game only twice this season.

Marcus Thornton made more field goals than Deron Williams and Paul Pierce combined. He also made five more than Dirk Nowitzki, despite attempting one fewer.

The Nets broke a five game losing streak in games in which Paul Pierce fails to make a triple.

Pierce has now scored at least 20 points and made multiple three pointers in three straight games, the first time he has had such a streak since April, 2011 (a streak that ended against Dallas).

For the second time this month, Shaun Livingston has gone at least 50 minutes without a turnover.
