INDIANAPOLIS (AP) A recent survey of youth sports shows more young people played football in 2015 than 2014.

The study was conducted for USA Football by the Physical Activity Council and Sports Marketing Surveys USA. USA Football is the sport's national governing body.

The council found an 8.7 percent increase among flag football participants and a 1.9 percent increase in tackle football among children ages 6 to 14.

The increase in flag football was the most of any sport in the top six. Tackle football came in third at 1.9 percent, trailing only baseball at 3.3 percent.
