Restricted free agent Chris Summers has accepted the Coyotes qualifying offer and agreed to a one-year contract.
Summers, a 6-foot-2, 209-pound defenseman, appeared in 21 games with the Coyotes in 2011-12, recording three assists. He also played 28 games with the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League.
Summers was drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (29th overall) of the 2006 Entry Draft.
