Sullinger, others set for summer play

Key players to watchi n the Orlando Pro Summer League, which runs July 9-13 at the Amway Center.

Free agents on rosters are available for all teams to sign prior to the start of training camp. For instance, forward Samardo Samuels played for the Bulls’ summer team in 2010, then signed with the Cavs shortly thereafter.

Rosters for the Las Vegas Summer League will be listed on another post next week.

Orlando Magic

Justin Harper, PF – Second-round pick by Cavs in 2011. Immediately traded to Magic. Spent most of year on bench.

DeAndre Liggins, SG – Former Kentucky star entering second year. Used sparingly in first.

Andrew Nicholson, PF – Magic’s first-round pick (No. 19 overall) in 2012.

Kyle O’Quinn, C/PF – Magic’s second-rounder (No. 49).

Magnum Rolle, PF – Big man a former member of Hawks.

Ish Smith, PG – Spent part of last season with Magic, part in D-League.

Ryan Thompson, SG – Brother of Kings forward Jason Thompson.

Maalik Wayns, PG – Philly high school legend went undrafted out of Villanova.
 

Indiana Pacers

Reggie Hamilton, PG – Led NCAA in scoring this past season, but went undrafted out of Oakland (Mich.).

Ben Hansbrough, PG – Former Notre Dame guard is brother of Pacers forward Tyler Hansbrough.

Orlando Johnson, SG – Kings’ second-round pick (No. 36), immediately shipped to Pacers. Athletic and can shoot.

Miles Plumlee, C – Pacers surprised some by selecting Duke big man in first round.

Jeff Pendergraph, F – Oft-injured big man entered league in 2009.

Lance Stephenson, G – Entering third year. Most notable moment came when he gave LeBron the choke sign.


Boston Celtics

Jared Sullinger, PF – Once expected to be selected in lottery, Celtics’ first pick gets first chance to prove detractors wrong.

Fab Melo, C – Taken one pick behind Sullinger (No. 22), has a long way to go skill-wise.

Sean Williams, F – Former Boston College forward. Has NBA stints on resume.

Dionte Christmas, SG – One-time Temple standout.

JuJuan Johnson, PF – Rode bench as rookie last season.

E’Twaun Moore, PG – See above. Days in Celtics Green may be numbered.
 

Brooklyn Nets

MarShon Brooks, SG – Promising scorer entering second NBA season.

Adam Morrison, SF – One-time No. 3 overall pick has battled major knee issue.

Julian Wright, F – Former first-round pick of the Hornets.

Ashton Gibbs, PG – Went undrafted out of Pitt.

Tyshawn Taylor, PG – Nets’ second-round pick (No. 41) could stick.

Jeff Foote, C – True 7-footer who played for Nets’ D-League affiliate last season.

 
Detroit Pistons

Andre Drummond, PF/C – Pistons feel they got a steal by landing the athletic big man ninth overall in draft.

Yancy Gates, PF/C – Cincinnati big man went undrafted but being closely watched by scouts.

Brandon Knight, G – Widely considered second-best rookie guard this past season.

Kyle Singler, F – Second-round pick in 2011 returning from overseas.

Vernon Macklin, PF/C – Received spot duty in Pistons frontcourt as rookie.

Khris Middleton, G/F – Second-round pick (No. 39) has Pistons feeling excited.

Kim English, SG – Another second-rounder (No. 44). Tough, high-energy guy.

Casper Ware, PG – Small but quick, impressed in workouts before going undrafted.

 
Philadelphia 76ers

Mo Harkless, SF – Sixers have high expectations for first-round pick (No. 15).

Nik Vucevic, C – Seven-footer played in 51 of possible 66 games as a rookie.

Chris Johnson, SF – Dayton standout went undrafted.

Jacob Pullen, G – Stood out in NCAA tournament two years ago with Kansas State. Didn’t get drafted.

Devin Searcy, C – Another Dayton product forced to take free-agent route to NBA.

Solomon Jones, PF/C – Spent some time with the Hawks.

Zach Rosen, PG – Undrafted floor leader from Penn looked good during pre-draft workouts.
