DETROIT — Turkey legs, parade floats and an Ndamukong Suh foot — Thanksgiving traditions.
A year ago, Suh — the controversial defensive tackle for the Detroit Lions — was in the spotlight when he stomped on Green Bay offensive lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith during the annual Thanksgiving Day game at Ford Field. It led to a two-game suspension.
This time, Suh kicked Houston quarterback Matt Schaub in the groin area while rushing the passer in the pocket during the first quarter of the Texans’ 34-31 overtime victory.
No penalty was called on the play. Schaub stayed in the game.
It was difficult to determine how much, if any, intent there was on Suh’s part because he had been blocked and fallen to the turf when his left foot came up and hit Schaub.
But whether it’s a car accident, a lawsuit or an anonymous general manager ripping him, controversy just seems to follow Suh, almost on a weekly basis.
Ben Manges, the Lions’ assistant director of media relations, confirmed that Suh left the locker room before talking with the media.
Schaub took the fifth.
“I really don’t have anything to say about that play or that person,” Schaub said.
