Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was not happy with his alma mater, Nebraska, firing his former college coach, Bo Pelini.
"The leadership issues at the University of Nebraska extend above the Head Football Coach's office," Suh tweeted the other day.
Asked Wednesday about the firing, Suh said, "It's an unfortunate situation. I love coach Bo. He was with me at a critical time in my career. I owe a lot to him. He's always supported me in everything I've done. I'll continue to support him."
Nebraska won at least nine games in each of Pelini's seven years, including going 9-4 and 10-4 in Suh's final two seasons in 2008 and 2009.
"I think anybody would be surprised (about the firing) when you've got a winning coach like that," Suh said.
Asked whether Nebraska's expectations are unrealistic in this day and age, Suh replied, "I would love to elaborate on that. I love the University of Nebraska. I can't do it. I've got to focus on Tampa Bay (the Lions' next opponent). Thank you, though."
INJURY UPDATE
The Lions' starting offensive line was back in tact for Wednesday's practice with Riley Reiff at left tackle and Larry Warford at right guard.
Reiff missed the last game, and Warford the last three, both because of knee injuries.
Running back Reggie Bush, who has missed five of the last seven games with an ankle injury, also participated in practice.
