ATLANTA (AP) -- Miami manager Mike Redmond held Giancarlo Stanton out of the lineup Saturday night to give the struggling right fielder some rest.
Redmond said it "seems like he's just really grinding and not having a whole lot of fun out there."
Stanton, an All-Star last year who led the NL in slugging percentage, has just 13 homers and 35 RBIs after averaging over 35 homers and 86 RBIs over the previous two years.
Stanton has hit just .108 in 37 at-bats over his last 10 games.
Justin Ruggiano replaced Stanton in the lineup against the Atlanta Braves, despite being hitless in his last 38 at-bats.
Redmond added that Stanton, who went 0 for 3 with two strikeouts in Friday's 5-0 loss to Atlanta, is "frustrated and trying to do too much."
