Starc takes 5-44 as Sri Lanka out for 281 in 1st innings

GALLE, Sri Lanka (AP) Fast bowler Mitchell Starc took his fifth five-wicket haul in test cricket to help Australia dismiss Sri Lanka for 281 in its first innings on the first day of the second cricket test Thursday.
Starc gave Australia a dream start, dismissing Sri Lanka opener Dimuth Karunaratne off the first delivery of the match and later having Kaushal Silva caught behind to leave Sri Lanka on 9-2.
Kusal Mendis continued his form from the first test, scoring 86 and sharing 108 runs for the third wicket with Kusal Perera (49). Mendis also shared 67 runs for the fourth wicket with captain Angelo Mathews, who made 54.
Starc ended with 5-44 and reached his 100-wicket mark in tests. Off spinner Nathan Lyon took 2-78.
