The Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission issued a statement Sunday afternoon denying an ESPN.com report stating that the commission is actively considering allowing the Minnesota Vikings to play the 2011 season at the University of Minnesota's TCF Bank Stadium.
MSFC spokesman Patrick Milan wrote in an e-mail Sunday, "There is no study or assessment at any level within the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission regarding playing the 2011 season at TCF Bank Stadium. To quote Bill Lester, Executive Director of MSFC, 'There have been zero discussions about playing anywhere other than the Metrodome for the 2011 season.'"
Citing anonymous sources, ESPN reporter Chris Mortensen reported Sunday that the MSFC is studying the viability of playing the 2011 season at TCF Bank Stadium and would present its findings to the Vikings in late January or early February.
The Metrodome's roof collapsed on Dec. 12, forcing the Vikings to move one home game to Detroit and another to TCF Bank Stadium. Lester said last week that the MSFC, which operates the Metrodome, still hasn't determined a timeline for repairing or replacing the roof, but that it's committed to having the stadium ready for the Vikings in 2011.
