St. V-M honoring its national champs
Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary High School will honor its three alums who were a part of Ohio State's national championship football team at halftime of Saturday night's basketball game vs. Canton McKinley in LeBron James Arena.
James gave over $1 million for renovations in the gym in the summer of 2013.
The ceremony will honor senior cornerback Doran Grant, freshman linebacker Dante Booker and freshman running back Parris Campbell. Grant was a team captain and played in the Senior Bowl; he's been busy preparing for the NFL Draft.
Booker, Ohio's Mr. Football in 2013, played mostly on special teams last season and should compete for more playing time at linebacker in 2015. Campbell redshirted last season and had shoulder surgery late in the season. He expects to be ready to go for spring practice.
It's senior night for the 21-0 St. V-M basketball team, which is ranked No. 1 in Div. II in the Ohio Associated Press Poll and No. 3 nationally by USA Today.
