MADRID (AP) Spanish runner Adel Mechaal says he has been temporarily suspended for missing doping tests.
Mechaal says in a statement that the IAAF notified him on Wednesday that it was suspending him while it reviewed his disciplinary case for ''the suspected existence of missed controls.''
Mechaal says that he has not tested positive for illegal performance-enhancing substances and that he rejects all forms of doping.
The suspension will keep Mechaal from participating in the European Cross Country Championships on Sunday in Chia, Italy.

Mechaal won the silver medal in the 5,000 meters at the European track championships in July.
