South Carolina holds off Jacksonville State 56-49
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Ramon Galloway scored 15 points and South Carolina ended a two-game losing streak with a 56-49 victory over Jacksonville State on Wednesday night.
South Carolina (8-3) closed the first half on a 12-2 run after Jacksonville State (2-12) used an 11-1 run to tie the game at 22 with just more than 4 minutes remaining. Galloway hit two 3-pointers during the final run and made 4 of 7 3-pointers in the first half to finish with 12 points.
South Carolina opened the second half on a 17-5 run to push the lead to 18 points, the largest of the game.
Jacksonville State pulled within seven with 2:32 remaining, but got no closer and lost its eighth straight.
Jacksonville State played without leading scorer and rebounder Nick Murphy, who was stranded in New York after a snow storm blanketed the Northeast this week.
Stephen Hall scored 13 points to lead Jacksonville State.
South Carolina leading scorer Bruce Ellington was held to seven points, but his 3 with just less than 2 minutes remaining pushed the lead to 10.
