NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops officially fired offensive coordinators Jay Norvell and Josh Heupel on Tuesday.

Wednesday, TCU co-offensive coordinator Sonny Cumbie was in Norman, eating lunch at The Garage, a popular restaurant, with members of the Oklahoma coaching staff, according to a source.

It's unknown at this point if Cumbie has been offered any job with the Sooners.

Cumbie played for Mike Leach at Texas Tech and returned to the Red Raiders in 2009 to become a coach. Cumbie remained on staff at Tech under coach Tommy Tuberville and when Tuberville left and was replaced by Kliff Kingsbury, Cumbie was the only coach retained. Kingsbury promoted Cumbie to the co-offensive coordinator position for the 2013 season.

Cumbie joined the TCU staff in December of 2013 as the co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Under Cumbie, TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and was fourth in the Heisman voting. TCU set school records this season for total offense, points and passing yards.

Cumbie did not call plays for the Horned Frogs. Co-offensive coordinator Doug Meacham was in charge of that.

Tuesday, Stoops said he did not have a timetable on when he would be naming new coaches to the Sooner staff.

Meacham has also been rumored to be a candidate for the job.
