Source: Battle of Ohio on Thursday night, Browns to open in New York
The NFL regular-season schedule will be announced Tuesday night, but a source told FOX Sports Ohio Tuesday afternoon that the season's first Battle of Ohio will again be a Thursday night nationally televised game.
The Cleveland Browns play at the Cincinnati Bengals on Nov. 5, just like they did last year in a made for NFL Network matchup. The teams will play again in Cleveland on Sunday Dec. 6.
That's similar timing to last year's Browns-Bengals games. The Browns dominated the first one in Cincinnati to grab a temporary hold of first place in the AFC North. The Bengals shut out the Browns in Cleveland in Johnny Manziel's starting debut.
The full schedule will be revealed Tuesday night in a three-hour special on NFL Network that begins at 8 p.m. ET
Teams are generally allowed to reveal their full schedules at the start of the show.
Earlier Tuesday, NJ.com reported the Browns will open the season at the New York Jets on Sept. 13. Assuming prior reports that the Pittsburgh Steelers will be at New England for the traditional opener featuring the Super Bowl champions, there will be no AFC North intra-division games in Week One, a departure from recent years and last year, specifically, when the Steelers beat the Browns in overtime in Pittsburgh and the Bengals won at Baltimore.
