Sooners QB Baker Mayfield denied extra year of eligibility

Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield won't get another year of eligibility.
The proposed Big 12 rule change to eliminate the year of lost eligibility for non-scholarship athletes who transfer within the league did not pass, failing to get a majority vote at the conference's meetings on Wednesday.
Mayfield was a walk-on at Texas Tech and named 2013 Big 12 Freshman of the Year before transferring to Oklahoma.
After the ruling was made, Sooners coach Bob Stoops released the following statement:

Mayfield tweeted a lengthy statement expressing his disappointment but determination heading into his final season at Oklahoma.
