Skate and watch the Blues at fifth annual St. Louis Classic

Get ready to bundle up and lace up the skates, Blues fans. The fifth annual St. Louis Classic viewing and skating party will take place Saturday, Jan. 2, and for the first time will be held at Shaw Park Ice Rink in Clayton.

Fans will be able to watch the Blues game at Toronto that night on an enormous screen while skating on the Shaw Park Ice Rink.

Blues greats Bob Plager and Brett Hull are scheduled to appear at the event, as well as mascot Louie. FOX Sports Midwest, which hosts this celebration of hockey, will broadcast its pregame, postgame and intermission shows live from the rink, with Bernie Federko, Pat Parris and Jim Hayes as hosts. Festivities will begin at 5 p.m. with a special one-hour pregame broadcast.

The event is open to the public -- there's no cost to watch, and bleacher seating and lawn chair space will be available. Shaw Park Ice Rink is selling skating passes and rentals, which can be purchased in advance. Mid-States Hockey Association will sell hot chocolate and pretzels, and food trucks will sell other food and drink.

No, the Blues are playing in Toronto. You will be able to watch the TV broadcast of the game on a giant outdoor screen, alongside hundreds of other Blues fans.

Where should I park?

Street Parking: Pay as you go parking spaces on Brentwood Boulevard, Parkside Dr. and Topton Way the cost $1.00 per hour between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. Two hour maximum. Free handicap parking spaces are located just off Brentwood, in the horseshoe drive between the pool and the rink.

Garage Parking: Garage parking is located at the corner of Bonhomme and Brentwood at 8011 Bonhomme Ave. Garage is open and free evenings and weekends.

How much does it cost?                 

It's free to come and watch from the bleachers or your lawn chair.

What does my skating pass include?

The skating pass includes admission to the rink for unlimited skating that night, as well as skate rental.

Will there be food and drink?

Food will be available for purchase inside the rink from Mid-States Hockey Association, and outside the rink from area food trucks parked nearby. Alcohol is not served at Shaw Park Ice Rink.

Can I be on TV?

Yes you can be on TV! FOX Sports Midwest will broadcast pregame, postgame and intermission shows from rinkside. The pregame broadcast starts at 5 p.m.

Who else will be there?

Blues legends Bob Plager and Brett Hull are scheduled to appear, along with mascot Louie. Hockey Hall of Famer Bernie Federko and broadcasters Pat Parris and Jim Hayes host FOX Sports Midwest's shows.
