Nnamdi Asomugha wouldn’t eat with his teammates? Say it ain’t so! According to WIP Radio in Philadelphia, the underachieving member of an awful Eagles secondary chose to have lunch in his car instead of with his teammates during practices last season. What a selfish, me-first jerk, right? Well … To be fair, we here at Laces Out have a modicum of sympathy for Mr. Asomugha. Being an NFL player is just like having an office job — if your office was outside and required repeated blows to the head. But it’s hard to imagine typical office etiquette doesn’t come into play. Maybe Nnamdi just needed some time away from that nickel corner who kept spoiling the ending to the Walking Dead he had on DVR. Maybe his position coach made him look at photos of his new baby on his cell phone when all Nnamdi wanted was to enjoy his Quiznos. Whatever the reason, who hasn’t ducked out of the office for a little quiet time? Some of us get an hour a day! Does this mean he’s anti-team? Sure, he could be … but it seems like the Eagles are trying to put out an anti-Asomugha smokescreen to support their reason for asking him to take a pay cut for 2013. If that’s the case … that’s weak sauce. Seriously, we like to think the Eagles can make up a better story than that.
