Shakib retains Bangladesh captaincy

Bangladesh allrounder Shakib Al Hasan has retained the captaincy for the upcoming one-day international series against Zimbabwe, the Bangladesh Cricket Board announced Thursday. The first three matches of the five-match series will be held in Bangladesh capital Dhaka on Oct. 27, 29 and 31. The last two matches will be played in the southern port of Chittagong Nov. 3 and 5. The board also announced a 14-member squad for the first three matches recalling left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak who recovered from an ankle injury. Paceman Shahadat Hossain replaced Syed Rasel. Shakib stood in for injured skipper Mashrafee bin Mortaza and then led Bangladesh to its maiden test series win against a weakened West Indies in July. The 2009 Wisden test player of the year also led Bangladesh to a 4-1 one-day series win against Zimbabwe in August.
