The Detroit Lions placed safety Amari Spievey on injured reserve Saturday, ending his season, to make room for cornerback Drayton Florence on the 53-man roster.

Spievey, a third-round draft pick out of Iowa in 2010, missed the last three games because of a concussion. It was his second concussion in less than a year.

Florence, who underwent surgery for a broken forearm in mid-September, is expected to play in Sunday’s game against Green Bay.
