Sam's Sister wins Santa Monica Stakes at Santa Anita

Sam's Sister rallied to win the $200,000 Santa Monica Stakes by 1-1/4 lengths Monday at Santa Anita.

Ridden by Elvis Trujillo, Sam's Sister ran seven furlongs in 1:22.42 and paid $4.40, $2.60 and $2.20 as the 6-5 favorite.

Sweet Marni returned $3.40 and $2.80, while Harlington's Rose was another 2-3/4 lengths back in third and paid $4.60 to show.

The victory, worth $120,000, increased Sam's Sister's career earnings to $427,450, with five wins in six starts. She is trained and co-owned by Hall of Famer Jerry Hollendorfer, who earned his meet-leading sixth stakes victory.
