Saints sign former Vikings DT Ayodele
METAIRIE, La. (AP) -- The Saints have signed defensive tackle Remi Ayodele, who was a member of New Orleans' 2009-10 Super Bowl squad.
Saints spokesman Greg Bensel, who confirmed the signing Monday, says the deal is for one season.
The 29-year-old Ayodele played with Minnesota in 2011, starting 13 games.
The seven-year veteran played for New Orleans from 2008-2010.
Ayodele started 13 games during the Saints' Super Bowl campaign and was involved in a high-low hit on Brett Favre that hurt the quarterback's ankle in the NFC title game. The play was not flagged, but the NFL later said it should have been.
He started all 16 games in 2010.
While his time with the Saints coincided with the timeline of the NFL's bounty investigation, Ayodele was not punished by the league.
