Saintly Joan rallies to win Monmouth Park feature

OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) Saintly Joan overtook Legal Laura in the closing strides to win by a half-length in the $60,000 Little Silver Stakes at Monmouth Park on Saturday
Trained by Pat McBurney and ridden by Angel Serpa, the 3-year-old filly ran the mile on a fast track in 1:39 3-5 and returned $5.60, $3 and $2.40. The race initially was scheduled to be run on the turf, but was moved to the main track.
Legal Laura, who led for most of the race, returned $3.20 and $2.60, while Swiss Army Wife was 2 3/4 lengths back in third and paid $3.
The victory was the third win in nine career starts for Saintly Joan. She raised her career earnings to $123,030.
