SAfrica makes 327-8 seeking series whitewash over Australia
CAPE TOWN, South Africa (AP) Rilee Rossouw made 122 as South Africa overcame a slow start to reach 327-8 in the fifth and final one-day international against Australia on Wednesday.
Top-ranked Australia faces a tough task chasing a record second-innings score in an ODI at Newlands to avoid a first ever 5-0 limited-overs series whitewash.
Australia had South Africa 52-3 with the departure of captain Faf du Plessis, but Rossouw and JP Duminy (73) combined for 178, the highest fourth-wicket partnership for South Africa against Australia.
Rossouw fell in the 45th over, and there was a flurry of wickets at the end, with pacers Joe Mennie and Chris Tremain collecting three each.
The damage was already done. South Africa finished with the third-highest ODI total at Newlands and Australia faces its worst performance in a series.
