First baseman Ryan O'Hearn, who has hit five home runs in Cactus League games this spring, is among nine players assigned to minor league camp by the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday.

O'Hearn is one behind team co-leaders Salvador Perez and Jorge Soler, who have hit six homers apiece in spring training. Infield prospect Frank Schwindel is tied with O'Hearn.

Also sent to minor league camp were pitchers Kevin Lenik, Richard Lovelady, Glenn Sparkman and Josh Staumont; catchers Nick Dini and Parker Morin, and infielders Cody Asche and Erick Mejia.

The Royals have 39 players in major league camp.
