Royals trade Pounders to Angels

The Kansas City Royals traded pitcher Brooks Pounders to the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday, receiving pitcher Jared Ruxer in exchange.

Pounders, 26, appeared in 13 games -- all relief -- for the Royals last season. He finished the year with a 2-1 record and a 9.24 ERA.

Ruxer, 24, split the 2016 season between Burlington [Iowa] (A) and Inland Empire (A), posting a combined 3.08 ERA in 29 appearances and 19 starts and a 4-8 record.
