Royals trade Jeffress, Hottovy

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Royals announced today that the club has traded right-handed pitcher Jeremy Jeffress to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for cash considerations and left-handed pitcher Tommy Hottovy to the Texas Rangers in exchange for a player to be named and cash considerations.   

Both pitchers were designated for assignment on November 2.  Jeffress, 25, was 0-0 with a 6.75 ERA in 13 relief appearances for the Royals in 2012.

Hottovy, a 31-year-old Kansas City native, was 0-0 with a 2.89 ERA in nine relief appearances for the Royals in 2012.
