Published Nov. 15, 2016 3:06 p.m. ET

Mark your calendar for Feb. 25, fans. That's when Royals baseball resumes.

Yes, it's the exhibition variety, but after an offseason of roster moves but no games, Feb. 25 is significant. The Royals open their 2017 spring training schedule against the Texas Rangers, who share a complex with the Royals in Surprise, Arizona.

Kansas City's 35-game spring training schedule features 16 home games at Surprise Stadium, plus one additional contest (the opener vs. Texas) as the visiting team.

The Royals will host every Cactus League member at least once, including visits from the defending World Series champion Chicago Cubs (March 1) and the defending American League champion Cleveland Indians (March 18). Kansas City also will host the Venezuelan National Team (March 8) as it prepares for the 2017 World Baseball Classic.

The Royals will complete their exhibition schedule with a two-game series against the Rangers at Globe Life Park on March 31 and April 1 before opening the regular season on Monday, April 3, in Minnesota.

Pitchers and catchers will report to Surprise on Feb. 14. Workouts for pitchers will begin the next day. The remainder of the squad will report on Feb. 17 and begin workouts Feb. 18.
