KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) An encouraging road trip to start the season ended in most discouraging fashion for the Kansas City Royals. Now, they return home for a reset of sorts.

Kansas City plays the Cleveland Indians on Friday afternoon at Kauffman Stadium.

The Royals took two of three from the Los Angeles Angels last weekend, and started out well against the Oakland Athletics before losing a pair of one-run games.

In the series finale, Royals closer Jonathan Broxton walked a pair of batters and then plunked back-to-back hitters, sending in the winning run in the 12th inning.

Royals manager Ned Yost says a day off Thursday will purge that from the team's memory, and the home opener on Friday will allow the team to start fresh.
