KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) Royals
outfielder Alex Gordon left Wednesday night's game against the Cleveland
Indians in the sixth inning with a possible concussion after making an
awkward attempt to catch a fly ball.
Gordon landed in a heap on the warning
track and didn't move while Jason Kipnis rounded the bases for an
inside-the-park, three-run homer that gave the Indians a 3-1 lead.
Royals pitcher Jeremy Guthrie
immediately motioned to the dugout, and trainer Nick Kenney and manager
Ned Yost ran out to check on the Gold Glove outfielder. He limped off
the field and the team reported that Gordon sustained a possible
concussion and a bruised right hip.
Gordon will be evaluated again on Thursday.
David Lough took over for Gordon in
left field. Jarrod Dyson entered the game to play center field and
Lorenzo Cain moved from center to right for the Royals.
