CINCINNATI (AP) -- Reds third baseman Scott Rolen has a sore lower back that will sideline him for at least a few days.

Manager Dusty Baker said Rolen had an MRI exam that found a couple of inflamed areas in the back. He was put on medication. The Reds are hoping the problem subsides by the end of the weekend.

Rolen last played on Tuesday. He's batting .244 with six homers and 33 RBIs. The 37-year-old infielder missed a month earlier this season because of a sore left shoulder, which was operated on last year.

Shortstop Zack Cozart also was out of the lineup Friday night for the first game of a series against Houston. Cozart hurt his back on Tuesday. Cozart is batting .243 with 15 homers and 32 RBIs.
