ATLANTA -- On the 44th anniversary of Green Bay's first Super Bowl victory, the Packers were as masterful as the Lombardi teams of yesteryear. There were no power sweeps just an astounding performance by quarterback Aaron Rodgers as the Packers crushed the Falcons Saturday night at the Georgia Dom 48-21, to advance to the NFC Championship game next Sunday. They will play a third straight road playoff game against the winner of Sunday's Chicago/Seattle game at Soldier Field.

Rodgers set a franchise playoff record completing 86 percent of his passes, 31 of 36 for 366 yards.

"I just got into a rhythm," Rodgers said. "Not only throwing the football but moving around in the pocket. It's just a special night."

By trouncing the Falcons, a team that had just one home loss all season and who had beaten the Packers here in November, Green Bay surprised much of the football nation. But they didn't surprise themselves.

"We watched the first game," said nose tackle B.J. Raji. "And as bad as we played we had a chance to win, so we knew if we cleaned up some things, this would be the result."
