'Rocky' reporter Lewis to retire
Rocky Balboa finally called it quits six years ago, when he came out of retirement at 59 and lost a split decision to Mason "The Line" Dixon in the sixth movie of the Rocky series.
Now the TV news reporter who in the original movie in 1976 went into a meat-packing plant and introduced the world to Rocky's unusual training method, punching frozen slabs of beef, is retiring.
Diana Lewis, 69, this fall will leave WXYZ-TV Channel 7 in Detroit after 35 years as an anchorwoman at the station.
Before her career in Detroit, Lewis had TV newsroom stints In Philadelphia and then Los Angeles, where she found work on the big screen opposite Sylvester Stallone's Rocky character. Lewis also appeared in "Rocky V" in 1990.
On television, her credits include “The Twilight Zone,” “Hunter,” “The Gary Shandling Show,” “Murder She Wrote,” “The Million Dollar Caper,” and “All My Children.”
Lewis, a Pennsylvania native, said she will spend time with her family and enjoy some rest and relaxation.
Unlike Rocky, she plans to stay retired.
