Rivers: Allen 'probable' for playoffs
Boston Celtics guard Ray Allen is reportedly "probable" for the playoffs, coach Doc Rivers said Thursday night.
"In football terms, isn't that the word they use when it's more than 50 percent that he's going to play?" Rivers told CSN New England. "So let's put him at probable."
Allen has missed nine consecutive games with an ankle injury. The Celtics open the playoffs Sunday at Atlanta.
Rivers also said Allen would like come off the bench as Avery Bradley is expected to retain his role in the starting lineup.
"He's not played in quite a while," Rivers told CSNNE.com. "To go from zero to 100, which is what the playoffs are, is very difficult. But when you put Ray on the floor you still have to guard him. Having him on the floor gives us something; it gives us spacing.
