Reports: Oklahoma State QB Walsh out indefinitely after surgery
Oklahoma State will reportedly be without quarterback J.W. Walsh for more than just Saturday's game against Texas-San Antonio.
Walsh underwent surgery on his right lower leg and will be out indefinitely, according to multiple media reports on Thursday.
No bones are broken or fractured, but the Tulsa World reported the injury could keep Walsh out the entire season. The Oklahoman, citing a source, seconded that there is no broken bone. Kfor.com reported that the injury will keep Walsh on the sidelines for 6-8 weeks.
Monday, Gundy said Walsh's injury was "not as severe" as the team originally thought. The program declined comment on Thursday's reports.
Walsh was injured in the first half of Oklahoma State's win over Missouri State last Saturday. Arizona transfer Daxx Garman replaced him and completed 16-of-26 passes for 244 yards and two touchdowns. Garman is expected to get his first career start this week against the Roadrunners.
True freshman Mason Rudolph is expected to move up to No. 2 quarterback while Walsh is out.
