Report: UF offers roster spot to one-armed Zach Hodskins

Zach Hodskins is a shooting guard for Alpharetta Milton High School in Georgia.

What sets Hodskins apart from other talented players from around the country is that he was born with only one hand. His left arm ends just below his elbow.

And as first reported by Yahoo's Prep Rally blog, Hodskins, 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, has picked up a preferred walk-on offer from the University of Florida.

David Boyd, a former coach of Hodskins, said via Twitter that he spoke with Gators assistant Jon Pelphrey and that he confirmed the offer.

While a preferred walk-on offer would guarantee Hodskins a spot on the team, it's not a scholarship.

According to Prep Rally, Hodskins has been impressing scouts this summer on the AAU circuit, which may have prompted the offer from Florida. But it remains to be seen if he accepts the offer in favor of a scholarship elsewhere. UAB and Birmingham Southern are a couple of schools that have reportedly shown interest.
